GENERAL SCHOOL INFORMATION
The School Day School Times

School start time for Reception to Year 6 is 8.45 am - end of day 3.15 pm
The School week is 32.5 hours in total minus lunch break.

Lunches

Children who decide to have a cooked meal will choose from a menu daily. Menus are available to view online via our school website, under the ‘Parents’ tab and are also on display in the school entrance foyer. Children in years Reception to Year 2 receive a Universal Free School Meal and therefore no payment from parents is required. For children in Years 3 to 6 the daily charge for a meal is £2.20; payment is made at the school office. If your child does not want a school dinner, they can bring a packed lunch

Nut Related Allergies
We are a nut and sesame free school. A growing number of children have nut related allergies. Having to administer an epi pen to counteract the effects of an allergic reaction is not pleasant for either pupils or staff. To avoid any nut related allergic reactions, do not send any nut or sesame products into school.

Milk
Children in Early Years milk free of charge.

Water and snacks
Children are asked to bring a named plastic water bottle to keep in the classroom. Children in Year 3 and above are allowed to bring in fruit for break time. Rec to Year 2 have fruit provided for snack time. Surplus is often shared with all children in school.

Sickness
Please note that if your child has been sent home due to vomiting or diarrhoea they must stay at home for 48 hours from the last episode. Similarly if your child has vomited at home they must stay at home for 48 hours from the last episode. This is essential to ensure that bugs are not transferred to other children. Please report all absences on 0191 2826483 and respond to text from admin.

Administration of Medication
It is school policy not to administer medicines to pupils, other than in exceptional circumstances. Medicines should not be sent to school with your child. Courses of medicine, e.g. antibiotics, should be organised so that doses are taken outside of school hours. If you feel your child needs any medication, or they are put onto a new medication through the year, please contact the office for a discussion with our Medical Lead, Karen Scott our Business Manager.

Changes to Collection Arrangements
We understand that things can happen unexpectedly and that you may need to make alternative arrangements for people to collect children at the end of the day. ALL changes to collection must be made by telephone or email no later than 2.30 pm on the day. The email address is admin@christchurch.newcastle.sch.uk

Letters to Parents
All newsletters and information are usually sent home once a week. Copies are available in the entrance foyer.

Uniform
Uniform items that require the school logo, e.g. school sweatshirt can be purchased via the school office. Other uniform items, e.g. trousers, polo tops are available from local supermarkets. Please make sure all items of clothing are clearly labelled – thank you.
